Reece, Sophia, Haben, Sigang:
Maybe you can all take turns helping out on Feb 24th and also on March 6th
- these are days when we will be able to do a little experiment to support
the recruitment of indigenous students on campus. For now, please just
reserve the date in your calendar, and I will provide more details later.
On the 24th I cannot be in town, but we'll set everything up beforehand and
test it out. Here is the plan:
we'll take 3 solutions of 1 OD each yellow, red and blue food coloring and
have a couple P1000 pipettes there.
Students can mix and match by pipetting different colors into a new
mixture/color. THen we will run the new color on the spectrophotometer and
fit it with UltraScan to the basis spectra of red, blue and yellow, and
then we'll tell the students how accurately they mixed their colors. (only
they know what percentage of each they mixed).
This will be easy to do and works with the Genesys 50 plus a connected
laptop.

Chairs/Coordinators,

Welcome back to the start of a new semester.

The University of Lethbridge is welcoming a number of potential Indigenous
applicants from around Southern Alberta to the Iniskim Future Students Day
on Tuesday, February 24 in the Science Commons. A bit of information can be

I have attached a brief schedule of the day’s events.

We will need participants from all departments and programs to attend the
booth fair from 10:00-2:00 in the Science Commons, with set-up to be
completed by 9:30 (to avoid disruption of the welcome speeches and prayer).
That length of time can be a bit challenging for a single department member
(especially with classes on the go), so feel free to arrange for more than
one professor/instructor to participate. Due to space limitations, one
member at a time is desirable. A light lunch will be provided to booth
participants by the organizers of this event either at 1:00 or 2:30 (before
or after the Indigenous Student Success panel).

Please send me a list of the participants for this event and indicate any
special set-up needs for your table (e.g. power, whiteboard, whatever) and
any dietary restrictions for those participants. As usual, we can provide
the Faculty of Arts and Science tablecloths, and you will need to bring
whatever display items/information you want, including the usual
departmental/program banners.

Please also let me know if your department/program can include a tour of
interesting spaces, an activity representative of your research areas, or
whatever. As per the schedule, it looks like Biochemistry has already
stepped up with a demonstration or experiment, but others would be welcomed.

I need to provide this information to the organizers as soon as possible,
